Diploma in Nautical Science Sponsorship

Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS Sponsorship) is a one year residential diploma course leading to 3 year B.Sc. Nautical Science after 18 months of sea service and also leading to 2nd Mate Foreign going Certificate of Competency (CoC) awarded by the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India, enabling the cadets to become Navigating officers on board Merchant Navy Ships anywhere in the world.

The course is designed to cover all major topics related to the DNS Sponsorship industry and includes topics such as Navigation, Ship Maintenance, and Cargo Operations etc. Students get to learn both theoretical and practical aspects of Nautical Technology in this course.

Sponsorship is mandatory for this course.

Eligibility Criteria

Qualification: (a) Pass in (10+2) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less than 60%.

OR

B.Sc. in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry or Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the year, with an average of not less than 50% of marks in the final year.

OR

B.E/ B.Tech. Degree from I.I.T. or from a college recognized by AICTE with an average of not less than 50% of marks in the final year.

AND

(b) The candidates should have obtained 50% marks in the English language at 10th or 12th Std. or in the Degree course conducted by a recognized Board or any University.

Eye Sight: For DGS-approved course viz. DNS Leading to B.Sc.,(Nautical Science), there shall be no evidence of any morbid condition of either eye or of the lids of either eye which may be liable to risk of aggravation or recurrence. Candidates must possess good binocular vision (Fusion faculty and full field of vision in both eyes). Movement of the eyeballs must be full in all directions and the pupils should react normally to light and accommodation.

(a) Distance vision (unaided 1.0 *(6/6) in better eye and 0.67*(6/9) in other eye;
(b) Normal colour vision shall be tested by Ishihara test chart.

Relaxation: 5% Relaxation in eligibility marks to SC/ST candidates. No relaxation in English language marks.

Age Limit:
i) Minimum age – 17 years
ii) Maximum age – 25 Years

Note: For Scheduled Castes (SC) & Schedule Tribe (ST) Candidates maximum age relaxation is for five (5) years.

Physical Fitness: candidate should be medically fit as per the standards set by M.S. Medical examination rules 2000
